Work Arrangement :

Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the GM Global Technical Center three times per week, at minimum.

The Team:

This team is responsible for the Sustainability Reporting and Strategy for General Motors highlighting the industry Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG) topics. Preparation of the annual Global Corporate Sustainability Report is a primary focus of this team.

What You'll Do:

The ESG Reporting and Disclosures Intern will have the opportunity to work with various internal business units and teams as well as external partners to represent General Motors on key stakeholder engagements. These reports, statements, policies, and disclosures inform investors, employees and our customers about the company's progress, risk management, sustainability, and social responsibility. Work will include performing benchmarking and analysis of ratings, rankings, and reports as well as collaboration with the Sustainable Workplaces communications team on showcasing GM's sustainability efforts.

How You'll Make an Impact:

You will work to influence and create change by playing a role in developing gap analysis for various disclosures, evaluating ranking data, benchmarking and support the Sustainability Report preparations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Pursuit of a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Sustainability, Environmental Health, Environmental Science, or Environmental Engineering
  • Must be graduating between December 2025 and May 2028
  • Able to work fulltime, 40 hours per week

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to impact complex subjects to a wider audience

  • High level of integrity, ability to deal with ambiguity, take initiative, and be self-directed
  • Passion for sustainability

Start dates for this internship role are May & June of 2025.

Compensation:

  • The salary range for this role is $3,500-$6,100, dependent upon class status and degree
  • GM will provide a one-time lump sum taxable stipend payment to eligible students selected for the 2025 Student Program
