Brief Overview:
The Critical Care Medicine Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Fellowship will provide New Graduate Nurse Practitioners (or Nurse Practitioners new to the pediatric inpatient environment) with an in-depth clinical experience in a specific inpatient medical setting. This nine-month, full-time APRN Fellowship will build competency by means of hands-on direct care experiences, didactic classes, simulation and presentations. The APRN Fellow will train with physicians and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), and integrate with members of the multidisciplinary team. The APRN Fellow will be supported by a core team of APRN leaders, preceptors, and mentors.
This Nurse Practitioner Fellow will be responsible for:
- Front-line care and coordination of complex critically ill patients in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) and Medical Surgical Intensive Care Unit (MSICU) including assessment, diagnosis, pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions, bedside procedures, and family centered care of patients and their families.
- Consulting & collaborating with acute care providers and interdisciplinary team members on all assigned inpatients during daily rounds. Conducting patient assessment and medical history, physical exams, and diagnosing health and developmental problems.
- Caring for patients with both acute and chronic disease by managing therapeutic regimens according to approved guidelines.
- Participating in ongoing research and quality improvement initiatives, as well as facilitation of patient/family and multidisciplinary team
To qualify, you must have:
- Graduated from an accredited MSN/NP or DNP Program.
- PNP or FNP Board Certification
- Massachusetts NP license
- MCSR and DEA upon hire
- BLS upon hire
- PALS certification within 3 months of hire
