Advice for Employers and Recruiters
3 tips from the founder of AT WILL MEDIA on how employers can attract more students and recent grads in an economy recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic.
College Recruiter recently asked career experts for their tips regarding how to hire students, recent grads, and others as the job market and rest of the economy recover from the Covid-19 pandemic. Will Malnati, the Founder of AT WILL MEDIA, an award winning media-production studio, offered these three tips:
1.) Flexibility is something that all employers will need to think about more seriously in 2021. The amount of flexibility you are willing to have around 1) remote office optionality 2) work from home optionality and 3) paid time off/vacation days, will determine how full and impressive your candidate pool is.
2.) Be prepared for sharp candidates to want the option to work from a state or region that is different from where your base office is. Figure out ways to make that work.
3.) Be prepared to allow sharp candidates to work from home part-time or even full-time even post-pandemic. We have made it happen for 1+ years, so studies show we are able to continue to make it work, and you should as an employer–especially if that makes the difference between hiring someone incredible and hiring someone who is just ok. And finally, think about how you can get more lenient with PTO– more and more businesses are moving towards an unlimited PTO model. Even though that may seem scary for employers, it typically ends up working in everyone’s favor– giving your employees more flexibility while making the company feel less constrictive.
