Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities

OVERVIEW

DBHDD operates state hospitals and provides for community-based services across the state through contracted providers. The department serves people living with mental health challenges, substance use disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, or any combination of these. As Georgia’s public safety net, our primary responsibility is to serve people who are uninsured. We also serve individuals on Medicaid and others with few resources or options.

Job Title: Planning List Administrator - Region 3

Pay Grade: I

Job Description, Responsibilities, Standards, and Qualifications

  • Assists people who have been prioritized for a NOW or COMP waiver with the waiver service entry process. Completes required documentation necessary for waiver service entry. Maintains knowledge of local resources for people who have support needs that cannot or should not be funded through the NOW or COMP waivers.
  • Communicates with individuals in a manner appropriate to the individual's abilities to gather required information; communicates with families and other authorized parties to obtain information necessary to maintain awareness of changing circumstances, current level of need, and specific support needs.
  • Participates in regional planning list meetings to support other team members and improve knowledge.
  • Assists individuals who are moving into waiver services and their families with the Medicaid application process to the degree necessary.
  • Assists individuals with IDD to choose service providers by providing information on providers, facilitating meetings with potential providers, or scheduling provider fairs as warranted. Develops and maintains knowledge of community resources and maintains a network of community contacts; uses this knowledge to educate and advise families and providers/caregivers, and make necessary referrals for non-waiver supports.
  • Maintains close contact with those on the planning list who have significant health needs and assists these individuals and their families to get all support available through the Medicaid state plan.
  • Complies with HIPAA and all DBHDD policies regarding confidentiality of protected health information.
  • Reports concerns of abuse, neglect, exploitation or immediate risk to an individual as required by policy.
  • Assists with State Service Coordination tasks as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Master's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university OR Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND Two years of related experience. Note: Some positions require eligibility for licensure.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with or knowledge of individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities, Medicaid waivers, and DBHDD I/DD services; experience working successfully without daily contact with a supervisor.
  • Spanish fluency.
