The Role:
Hanover's Grants Research Associates (GRAs) work alongside Content Directors and Grants Consultants providing research services primarily to higher education clients. GRAs will be responsible for identifying public and private funding opportunities based on client need and assessing appropriate fit of highly technical funding programs. GRAs may contribute to proposal narratives in the form of best practices research, literature reviews, and needs assessments. This is an ideal role for those with a passion for getting to know scientific research, public health delivery, and academic programming intimately and then helping clients to become more effective in carrying out their institutional missions. This position will report directly to a Content Director.
Responsibilities
- Identify and select sources of funding that align with client projects;
- Manage tight deadlines to create prospecting reports and other deliverables on time;
- Demonstrate an understanding of clients' needs and the goals of their projects, both programmatic and research-related;
- Independently create client-ready deliverables with minimal oversight;
- Collaborate with Content Directors and Grants Consultants to refine project scopes;
- Explore creative solutions for preparing content and delivering it to clients efficiently;
- Represent Hanover alongside colleagues in articulating findings from research
Qualifications
Desired Skills and Attributes:
- Experience writing and researching for an academic audience;
- Ability both to accept and to provide constructive feedback;
- Strong communication, fact-checking, writing, and editing skills in the English language;
- Strong interest in prospect research, fundraising strategy, grant writing, and the organizations we serve;
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail;
- Ability to work quickly and independently with minimal guidance or oversight;
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment;
- Demonstrable problem-solving skills and work ethic;
- Proven academic achievement;
- High comfort level with Microsoft Office applications, such as MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Power Point. MS Power BI preferred but not required
Education Preferred:
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in a liberal arts-related discipline preferred, though candidates with relevant experience who hold other degrees will be considered.
Experience Preferred:
2-3 years' experience writer and/or editor, with hands-on exposure to grant writing and/or fundraising processes. Prior experience with sponsored research is preferred.

Compensation
Hanover Research strives to create compensation and benefits programs that are competitive, equitable and fair. The compensation range for this role at the company is $49,812 - $55,000. Please note that the base salary offered is contingent on the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Our base pay range is determined by the role and the market.
