Lafayette Group is seeking a qualified and highly motivated full-time writer/editor to support strategic communications efforts for the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). This position involves developing and editing written communications products on a variety of cybersecurity topics, including reports, fact sheets, briefings, talking points, and web/social media content. Additionally, this position will review and edit various types of written communications authored by subject matter experts from across the organization while adhering to existing style guides and following best practices for plain language and persuasive writing. The ideal candidate will be outgoing, confident, and willing to tackle myriad challenges with a positive and creative attitude.

Job Responsibilities:
- Work with program managers and internal subject matter experts to gather research and develop excellent written communications products on a wide variety of cybersecurity topics.
- Articulate complex concepts to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Write and edit reports, website content, social media content, fact sheets, stakeholder emails, communications SOPs, templates, and other documentation.
- Provide suggestions to improve flow, understanding, grammar/style, and clarity of written communications.
- Use critical thinking skills and pose thoughtful questions to understand subject matter context and ensure editing suggestions are useful and on-point.
- Build strong relationships with team members and clients, especially as it relates to editing the work of others to achieve desired outcomes.
- Follow client style guides and requirements to develop and edit written communications with a constant quality improvement mindset.
- Respond quickly and confidently to program manager and client requests with little direction.
- Develop and maintain SOPs and a quality assurance checklist for internal stakeholders to ensure consistent writing/editing standards.
- Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of experience as a writer, editor, or communications specialist.
- Prior government consulting experience, specifically in a strategic communications, writing, and editing type role.
- Stickler for grammar, punctuation consistency and formatting.
- Demonstrated proficiency in AP Style.
- Strong familiarity with cybersecurity or IT topics and associated technical jargon.
- Ability to communicate complex topics and concepts in plain language for a variety of audiences.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to produce error-free work while meeting deadlines.
- Interested in learning new cyber subject matter with demonstrated success at understanding and writing about new subjects.
- Be a self-starter who takes projects in a forward-leaning direction.
- Advanced competency using Microsoft Office, including SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and Outlook.
- Strong relationship building, organization, and verbal skills.
- Ability to attain a U.S. government public trust and/or security clearance, if required.
Desired Qualifications:
- Master's degree in relevant field
- Existing DHS or CISA Entry on Duty (EOD) status
- Experience writing or editing speeches or high-profile event talking points
- Experience writing about current cybersecurity topics such as zero trust, risk management, etc.
