Government:

Viasat’s Government business unit delivers against the requirements for voice, data and video services with demand for global availability and utmost reliability. Whether a military commander on operations, a government official responding to a local emergency or a head of state conducting international affairs, Viasat provides them with essential access to voice and broadband data, where and when they need it.


The day-to-day

The Strategic Business Development Manager for ANZ Government is a role dedicated to developing new business. The role has a specific focus on identifying new business and capture management especially in vertical markets with a specific focus on Government. You will need to create a strong pipeline of opportunities to grow the ANZ Government revenues within the Global Government Business Unit.

The successful applicant will be required to engage pro-actively with a broad cross-section of contacts across the company, end users, platform OEMs, Primary System Integrators, technology partners to position Viasat capabilities and services. You will own the relationship with the customer and be expected to lead the relationship from proposal stage, through to live service launch and revenue recognition.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a sales strategy to engage key government organisations across the region to quickly identify opportunities forming a strong pipeline for new business.
  • Work with customers, government partners and sales team to define, shape and understand technical requirements.
  • Develop high quality solutions, using the whole range of the Viasat portfolio, which meets the time, cost and budget requirements identified.
  • Develop and deliver, clear presentations on integrated solutions with benefits to customers.
  • Update the customer/partner/team regularly [defined by the project] on the progress of the projects under the responsibility of the role.
  • Keep abreast of potential solution vendors that could be used to address specific requirements of customers.
  • Provide support at trade shows and conferences.
  • Develop an understanding of key solutions relating to LC4 systems used by government clients.

What you'll need
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in sales/channel development of Telecommunications and or Information Technology services in the government market.
  • Strong technical background and ability to understand key terminology within the VSAT, IP and Carrier markets.
  • A track record of meeting and preferably exceeding aggressive sales targets.
  • Demonstrable ability to build trusting relationships, conduct business with cultural sensitivity and possess strong knowledge of the Australian Government marketplace.
  • Strong Understanding of the ANZ Government echo system will be an advantage.
  • Strong Presentation Skills and inter-personal skills.
  • Ability to Travel regularly.

Candidate must be an Australian citizen and eligible obtain and maintain a Security Clearance.

  • Possessing security clearances as required.
  • Fluency in and English.
