What You’ll Be Doing:

As Manufacturing and Quality (MQ) Tech@Lilly MES System Engineer - Syncade MES (Manufacturing Execution System), your main function is to design, develop, implement, enhance, and maintain the MES software application that helps optimize manufacturing processes, reduce errors, and increase efficiency, by integrating production operations with business systems and providing strategic guidance on applying a right-sized, risk-based approach to system validation. This role is focused on the Indy API Manufacturing Site.

How You’ll Succeed:

  1. You will bring your technical knowledge and experience to design, develop, implement, enhance, and maintain MES solutions that integrate production processes with business systems to optimize manufacturing efficiency, quality, and safety.
  2. Must have a strong understanding of corporate computer system validation requirements according to Lilly Quality Standards.
  3. Must have a combination of technical and soft skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams at the Indy API site and drive continuous improvement initiatives within MES.
  4. Conduct testing, troubleshooting, and ongoing maintenance of MES solutions at the site to ensure system reliability and data integrity.
  5. Utilize information from MES implementations at other API manufacturing sites to determine the best approach for training and qualification strategies.
  6. Simplify and consolidate procedures, job aids, logbooks, etc. in advance of MES implementation activities in new areas to facilitate ticket decomposition activities.
  7. Ensure the MES solution interfaces appropriately with other manufacturing systems including DeltaV, Darwin, SAP, and QualityDocs.
  8. Stay up to date with emerging trends in MES technologies.
  9. Ensure documented processes and procedures are in place for all activities to meet quality and compliance standards.
  10. Leverage an agile mindset and framework for the entire solution lifecycle including designing, implementing, automating, modernizing, maintaining, and optimizing solutions.
  11. Provide MES support to the site as part of the 24x7 on-call support team.
  12. Ability to problem solve and work through manufacturing situations. Serve as an escalation contact with vendor(s) when needed.
  13. Promote and maintain a safe work environment.
  14. Establish a strong site culture based on Lilly values, expectations, and operational excellence standards.

What You Should Bring:

  1. Experience with MES technologies with preferred experience in Emerson Syncade.
  2. Manufacturing Operations experience.
  3. Basic understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) with demonstrated experience in computer system validations efforts.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with stakeholders and articulate complex technical concepts.
  5. Analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve complex technical issues.
  6. Adaptability and flexibility to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  7. Ability to manage and contribute to multiple concurrent activities and adapt to changes in priorities.
  8. Knowledge of cloud solutions and architecture.
  9. Additional experience in the following would be preferred but not required:
  • Understanding of cybersecurity concepts and best practices related to applications and platforms operating within an S95 Architecture.
  • SQL databases.
  • Microsoft Windows Servers.
  • Recipe Authoring.
  • ERP, LIMS, or other manufacturing systems interfacing design, development, and/or support.

Basic Qualifications/Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
  2. Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience/understanding of manufacturing systems like Emerson Syncade, or other MES solutions.
  3. OR
  4. High School Diploma/GED with 2+ years of relevant experience in Manufacturing Operations.
