The opportunity

The Associate, Securities Operations will work within the Securities team on a range of functions. This is a unique and highly collaborative role and the successful candidate will be part of a team that oversees the processing of equity and fixed income trades, mutual funds, pooled funds, GICs, corporate actions, and reconciliations. You will work closely with the team to ensure accurate and timely processing, meeting the needs of our clients.

What you’ll be doing

  • Provide oversight to CWT’s security master, including security set ups, maintenance, and pricing

  • Process, review, and reconcile daily transactions as assigned within the scope of securities operations

  • Communicate with the Client Services Team and external contacts responding to transaction requests and inquiries.

  • Support your team members in the overall operation of the team, coordinating the flow of work and communication and ensuring an equitable distribution of work.

  • Monitor and periodically audit work completed by the team to ensure it’s completed within established timeframes, service level agreements, and operational policies.

  • Investigate and resolve errors, including discrepancies identified by Internal Controls or the Client Services Team.

  • Maintain and develop procedures documents related to assigned activities.

  • Participate in department initiatives and projects related to post-trade securities operations.

Core knowledge requirements

  • Basic understanding of brokerage or custody operations

  • Proficiency with MS Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)

  • High school graduation with relevant “can do” experience

  • Past experience in the Canadian securities industry at a brokerage firm or custodian is an asset

  • Completion of the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) preferred

  • Understanding of investment concepts and operational procedures of an investment firm or custodian.

  • Strong understanding of RRSP, RRIF, and TFSA rules is an asset.

  • Experience working with GlobalPlus or FIS Unity is an asset.
