The following opportunity is available at Kaiser Aluminum Canada Limited extrusion facility in London, Ontario. Our manufacturing strategy is based on customer service, reliability, continuous improvement with a cooperative and flexible work environment.

The Operations Manager will lead our aluminum extrusion facility at our Kaiser Aluminum London, Ontario plant.

This position reports to the Plant Manager and is responsible for leading a diverse staff and team of production employees, in all aspects of Extrusion, Die Shop, Cast House and Fabrication. This role supports continuous improvements in manufacturing efficiencies (OEE), scheduling, inventory management, material flow, process and product improvement as well as cost control.


Duties include:

  • Responsibility for the overall operations of Extrusion and Cast House including people, machines, materials, and supervisory staff.


  • Reliability of Equipment and supporting proper Preventive and Predictive Maintenance.


  • Uses Kaiser Production System tools for problem resolution.


  • Responsible for TTI ownership as determined by Plant Management.


  • Lead/participate in strategic and business planning.


Ideal qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering or related technical field or related equivalent experience is required.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in Automotive Production Management. Aluminum extrusion processes are preferred, but not required.


  • Critical understanding of plant operational capabilities, process limitations, cost impacts.


  • Ability to effectively navigate relationships between all work areas.


  • Strong management skills, self-motivated, directed, and assertive.


  • Ability to hold others accountable for accurate and timely workflow, plant schedules, and business processes.


  • Working knowledge of Quality Management Systems (IATF)


  • Experience with Lean Management Systems/Six Sigma/Variation Reductions.


  • Strong problem solving (analytical) skills along with project management.


  • Ability to ensure safety and environmental targets are met.
