Analyst - Disputes, Claims, & Investigations

Analysts in the Disputes, Claims, & Investigations group work primarily as financial consultants on engagements within a litigation setting.Common engagements include forensic accounting, fraud investigations, valuation, shareholder disputes, intellectual property disputes, employment disputes, quantification of commercial damages; big data analysis, statistical sampling and quantifying complex insurance claims. This position will focus on False Claims Act and healthcare matters.

As an Analyst, a typical day might include the following:

  • Reviewing, organizing, and analyzing project documents and information, such as financial statements and data, tax returns and schedules, bank statements, legal briefs and court filings, copies of email communications and other business records produced by the parties to a dispute
  • Performing industry, company, or technical research
  • Reviewing opposing expert reports and identifying any flaws contained within
  • Attending meetings and client calls
  • Preparing information requests, financial schedules and business memos
  • Performing quality control checks
  • Reconstructing records
  • Valuing assets
  • Assisting in business development activities, such as writing proposals and professional articles
  • Analyzing large health care claims datasets
  • Extracting health care claims data from databases
  • Designing and implementing complex financial database models to generate meaningful analysis and conclusions
  • Normalizing and analyzing large structured and unstructured data sets
  • Maintaining detailed work-paper records of assumptions, methodologies, and sources of information utilized during the performance of all analytical tasks
  • Assisting in the creation and implementation of statistically valid random samples

The Analyst will be part of a firm where the culture and exceptional client service is inspired from leadership down.

Qualifications/Requirements:
  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Statistics, or related discipline
  • Strong academic record of at least a 3.2 GPA
  • Relevant internship or job experience
  • Strong analytical, verbal, technical and written skills
  • Basic Proficiency in using analytic tools (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Access, SQL, SAS) to analyze data
  • Ability to apply statistical concepts and analysis, knowledge of sampling a plus
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to clear Federal Government background check and obtain necessary level of clearance (required)
  • Eligible to work in the US, without employer sponsorship, at the time of hire and in the future (required)

For individuals assigned to work in California, Colorado, New York City, or Washington, Stout is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The range for this role considers several factors including but not limited to prior work and industry experience, education level, and unique skills. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
