Project Summary: The Academy for Educational Development (AED) is an independent, nonprofit organization committed to addressing human development needs in the United States and throughout the world. To that end, the AED Human Resources Department provides value added services in the areas of staff recruitment, retention programs, training, employee relations, compensation analysis, and HR administration, domestically and internationally.

Position Summary: The HR Associate functions as an integral part of the HR team by providing complex administrative and logistical support to the AED Employment Team and AED staff. The HR Associate's responsibilities will include processing HRIS actions/data entry, handling sensitive and confidential HR matters, employment verifications, assisting in the scheduling and interviewing of candidates, internship recruitment, conducting background checks, as well as supporting other Human Resources related activities.

The HR Associate will also serve as the AED Internship Coordinator.

Essential Job Functions: Responsible for all data entry into the HRIS; enter new employee information and changes for existing employees.
Daily responsibilities include answering phones, faxing, scheduling appointments, employment verifications, general correspondence, background/reference checks, I-9 verifications, and some staffing agency requests.

Assists Associate Director, Staffing & Employment with administrative matters and assists Employment Team with recruitment support.

Greets job applicants and set them up for computer testing as needed.

Manages the internship function by assuming responsibility for all aspects of recruiting across assigned Centers of Excellence and Groups, to include advertising and posting with universities.

Maintains accurate records and files including recruitment status report for assigned internships.

Assists Associate Director of Talent Retention & Acquisition with some outreach activities.

Maintains relationships with employment vendors and approves and reconciles invoices.

Coordinates meeting logistics and function set-up and arranges travel for Employment Team.

Performs other HR related job duties as assigned.

Education: Bachelors required or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Experience: 3 year(s) of relevant experience required

Specific Knowledge Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree preferred with at least three years of related work experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience will be accepted.

Knowledge and/or interest in human resources management.

Experience coordinating multiple and sometimes complex tasks and/or assignments.

Knowledge of HRIS required.

Experience working with all levels of staff.

Knowledge and understanding of work authorization and employment-related immigration issues a plus.

Work experience in an international environment or in the international development field is helpful.

Skills:

Ability to coordinate complex administrative matters and meet deadlines.
Ability to exercise initiative and to use discretion/judgment on assigned tasks and projects.

Requires excellent attention to detail.

Requires excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

Requires strong organizational skills to include ability to self-manage when instructions are not immediately available; strong initiaive.

Demonstrated computer skills, including spreadsheets, word processing, Internet searches, HTML, and presentations;

Ability to present to small groups preferred.

Foreign language skills a plus.
