John Deere Product Engineering Center is seeking an Engineer to run vehicle lab tests. The types of tests included are: air flow tests, PTO dyno tests, cold room tests, and wind tunnel tests. In this position, you will:
  • Use the appropriate tools to analyze tractor data to determine if the vehicle performance meets the established acceptance criteria.
  • Review requirements for vehicle being tested and determine if the standard tests are acceptable for collecting the data needed to verify that the vehicle meets specification.
  • Work with the appropriate parties to establish the proper acceptance criteria. Compile and furnish necessary information if vehicle requirements are not established.
  • Write Engineering Verification Procedures ( EVPs ) to be used in the validation and verification of vehicle subsystems.
  • Write reports summarizing the vehicle lab tests, showing how well the specifications are being met.
  • Develop an initial Product Verification and Validation (PV&V) plan for the vehicle lab tests. Then gather the group of the appropriate experts to approve and/or determine the optimum amount of testing needed to approve the vehicle per our specification.

Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Agricultural, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Knowledge of how airflow moves through cooling systems and how cooling systems function. This can be obtained through either practical work experience such as an Engineering internship or through undergraduate degree courses.
  • Good planning skills and the ability to coordinate test work with others.
  • Good team building skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
